Michelle Ascencion, the Ventura County Clerk-Recorder & Registrar of Voters, announced the May 4th commencement of voting activities for the June 2, 2026 Gubernatorial Primary Election.
- Ballots Mailed. Throughout the State of California, counties will begin mailing vote by mail ballots to all active registered voters on May 4. Voters should expect to receive their ballot by May 14; anyone who hasn’t received their ballot or State/County Voter Information Guide in the mail by then should contact the Elections Office.
- Track Your Ballot. Voters are encouraged to sign up for BallotTrax to receive notifications by email, text, or telephone when their ballot is both sent to them and received and counted by the Elections Office. This free service is available through the California Secretary of State’s Office by registering at wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov.
- Postmark Deadline Warning. Voters are reminded that USPS does not date stamp mail until it reaches a regional processing center, which could take several days after it is mailed. It is recommended that voters returning their ballot through the mail send it no later than 7-10 days before Election Day to ensure a timely postmark and arrival. Ballots returned by USPS must be postmarked no later than Election Day and received within 7 days to be counted.
- Returning Ballots via Drop Box or Vote Center. Besides the USPS return option, vote by mail ballots can be safely deposited at any of the 40 official ballot drop boxes or 53 vote centers located throughout Ventura County. The ballot must be in the signed return envelope and deposited no later than 8 PM on Election Day, June 2. Lists and maps of all official ballot drop boxes and vote center locations are available at Vote.VenturaCounty.gov.
- In-Person Voting. Those who prefer to vote in person can take advantage of early voting at the Elections Office beginning May 4. Early in-person voting is available Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, in the Elections Division at the Ventura County Government Center (Hall of Administration, Lower Plaza), 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura. ADA assistance is available. Early voting at the Elections Office provides an easily accessible in-person option for voters who will be out of town when the vote centers begin opening May 23.
