Ventura Audubon Society: Workday at New Oxnard Community Garden

With efforts to support bird habitat, Ventura Audubon Society is teaming up with the Organic Garden Club of Ventura County (OGCVC) on an exciting project. The OGCVC has recently acquired property in Oxnard that will be transformed into a native, regenerative garden – a place for pollinators, birds, and people alike. Work has just begun on the land, and the OGCVC needs all hands on deck!

These beginning phases involve preparing the land for planting, including digging, weeding, developing rainwater catchments, and planting cover crop seeds. Get ready for a good workout!

Location: 121 S. A. St. Oxnard 93030

Available Times:

  • Sun, Jan 11, 10 am – 12 pm PST
  • Sun, Jan 18, 10 am – 12 pm PST
  • Mon, Jan 19, 10 am – 12 pm PST
  • Sun, Jan 25, 10 am – 12 pm PST

No experience is required – the only prerequisite is a desire to learn! If you’ve been itching to break into the gardening scene but have no idea where to start, this is the perfect starting point. The land will not only serve as habitat and a food source, but a classroom for all who participate.

The goal is to bring this space back to life, showcase the positive impacts of land restoration, and bring community members together through a shared love of green spaces. https://www.venturaaudubon.org
