SEIU Local 2015 Caregivers Across California Rally to Help “Good Trouble Live On” in Honor of John Lewis and in Defense of Democracy

By Ventura Breeze Staff –

Thousands join dozens of actions across California to protest Medicaid cuts, attacks on immigrants, and threats to voting rights

Thousands of caregivers with SEIU Local 2015 will rally across the state as part of Good Trouble Lives On, a national day of peaceful action honoring the legacy of civil rights legend Congressman John Lewis and rising up in defense of democracy, care, and human rights.

From Los Angeles to Oakland to Fresno and beyond, SEIU Local 2015, the largest labor union in California and the largest long-term care union in the nation, organized and joined dozens of public events, including marches, teach-ins, and rallies. These actions come in direct response to the recently passed “Big Betrayal Budget” that slashes Medicaid, criminalizes peaceful protest, targets immigrant communities, and hands tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy.

These actions are rooted in SEIU Local 2015’s Justice Agenda, a statewide organizing and advocacy framework designed to uplift long-term care workers and protect the communities they serve. Through bold political action, member leadership, and collective bargaining, caregivers are demanding investment in care, not cruelty,  and pledging to hold elected officials accountable in 2026 and beyond.
