In Love and Loss, artist Andres Salazar presents a poignant collection of new oil works that navigate the delicate, often overlapping boundaries between deep affection and profound grief.
This exhibition showcases Salazar’s versatility, featuring a dynamic dialogue between abstract and figurative paintings. Through his “automatic and intuitive” process, Salazar taps into a “river of creative power” to produce works that feel both personal and other-worldly.
- Figurative Narrative: The figurative pieces serve as “vessels of memory,” using portraits and human forms to capture the tangible weight of shared history and the “sweet memories of childhood”.
- Abstract Emotion: The abstract works move beyond physical reality, using bold color, gestural lines, and shifting shapes to represent the “fragmentation and reconstruction” of the self after a loss.
- Opening April 4, 5 – 9 pm, The exhibit will be open for the rest of the month on weekends.
- WAV Gallery, 75 S. Ventura Ave.
Together, these paintings offer a space for viewers to reflect on their own stories of resilience and “healing and acceptance”. Salazar invites the audience to see these works not just as products, but as a “process of transformation” where nothing – even pain – is wasted. https://decadebrothers.com.
