Ventura Superior Court is accepting applications for the Ventura County Civil Grand Jury. The application period is January 1, 2026 through May 1, 2026. Jurors selected will serve as civil grand jurors for the July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027 term.
Interested Ventura County citizens must have the following qualifications:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- 18 years of age or older
- A resident of Ventura County for at least one year prior to July 1, 2026
- Have sound judgment and fair character
- Possess sufficient knowledge of the English language
- Be able to attend meetings three to five days a week.
In addition, applicants must not currently be serving as a trial juror in any court in California; must not have been discharged as a grand juror within the previous year; and must not currently serve as an elected public official. Principal functions of the Civil Grand Jury include reviewing public complaints, investigation of County government agencies, inquiry into management of public prisons within the County, investigation of special districts of the County and municipal government, involvement in fiscal or management audits, and preparation of reports on investigated matters. A per diem fee plus mileage is paid.

Ventura County Civil Grand Jury Open House
The Ventura County Civil Grand Jury invites the public to its annual Open House on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Civil Grand Jury Chambers located at 646 County Square Drive, Ventura.
The Grand Jury is a panel of 19 Ventura County citizens who conduct investigations into the operations of local governmental entities within the county in matters that are not criminal in nature. Investigations originate either from a public complaint or from within the Grand Jury.
The Open House is your opportunity to tour the Grand Jury Chambers, meet current Grand Jurors, learn about Grand Jury functions and the application process.
