Housing Resources 101: For Renters & Owners
The City of Ventura’s Housing Services Division, in partnership with the Housing Rights Center (HRC), is hosting two hybrid informational sessions titled Housing Resources 101: For Renters & Owners. The events will take place on Thursday, May 22, and Wednesday, June 11, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at Ventura City Hall, located at 501 Poli Street. Virtual participation will also be available for those who prefer to join online. Community members are encouraged to register.
These free sessions aim to provide both tenants and property owners with critical information on fair housing laws, general housing regulations, and available resources and services in the community. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, receive guidance, and connect with professionals who are committed to promoting housing stability. Community members are encouraged to submit questions in advance, which will be addressed during the question and answer section.
“This is about empowerment through education,” said Leona Rollins, Housing Services Manager for the City of Ventura. “Whether you’re a renter or a property owner, knowing your rights and responsibilities is the foundation for a stronger, more resilient housing environment. These sessions are designed to support and inform our community, especially as we work toward our goals around homelessness prevention and housing equity.”
The workshops support the City Council’s Strategic Priority of Homelessness and align with implementation efforts outlined in the Housing Element of the General Plan. Spanish interpretation services and light refreshments will be available for in-person attendees. Those who are unable to attend the May or June sessions are encouraged to look out for two additional hybrid sessions that will be scheduled later in summer 2025.
