Hundreds of dog lovers, rescue groups and community members gathered at ’olołkoy Beach Park in Oxnard on September 13 for the 26th annual Canine Adoption and Rescue League (CARL) Pooch Parade.
The popular event marked a new chapter for the organization as the Pooch Parade moved from its longtime home at Ventura Harbor to the newly renamed ’olołkoy Beach Park, formerly Oxnard Beach Park. The move was part of CARL’s celebration of its 30th anniversary and three decades of helping rescue dogs throughout Ventura County.
The beachside event featured a colorful costume parade, contests, vendors and opportunities to meet dogs looking for their forever homes. Several local rescue organizations participated, including the Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center (S.P.A.R.C.), bringing adoptable dogs and helping connect them with potential families.
Attendees also enjoyed a special K9 demonstration by the Santa Paula Police Department, giving spectators a closer look at the skills and training of working police dogs.
Participants took part in a walk along the beach and received special Pooch Parade swag bags while supporting CARL’s ongoing rescue efforts. The event provided an opportunity for animal lovers to celebrate their four-legged companions while learning more about local rescue organizations and the importance of adoption.
For 30 years, CARL has worked to give abandoned and unwanted dogs a second chance at finding loving homes. The annual Pooch Parade continues that mission by bringing the community together in a fun and welcoming setting while shining a spotlight on dogs in need. To learn more, visit www.carldogs.org.
