Starting December 18, 2024, California launched a groundbreaking incentive program offering income-eligible residents up to $2,000 toward the purchase of a new electric bicycle (e-bike). This initiative, funded by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), aims to promote clean transportation, reduce air pollution, and ensure equitable access to sustainable mobility solutions.
The first phase of the program allocates $3 million to fund up to 1,500 e-bike purchases. Applications opened at 6:00 p.m. on December 18 and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Approved applicants will receive vouchers that can be used at participating e-bike retailers.
“By using e-bikes, people can get around and meet everyday needs while improving air quality,” said Steven Cliff, CARB’s Executive Officer. “Prioritizing equity and access is key as we work to achieve our zero-emissions goal.”
Eligibility Requirements:
- Residency: Applicants must be California residents aged 18 or older with a valid California Driver’s License, AB 60 License, or California ID card.
