In 1994, a small group of dreamers set out to bring world-class music to Ventura—and to prove that our community could sustain and celebrate the arts at the highest level. Thirty years later, the Ventura Music Festival stands as one of the city’s most beloved cultural treasures, a source of pride, and a gift that continues to grow.
From the start, the vision has been clear: extraordinary performances that bridge genres, connect generations, and support music education. Over three decades, VMF has welcomed international stars alongside rising young artists—classical, jazz, chamber, and crossover—reminding us that Ventura can be both a home for tradition and a stage for innovation.
But the festival’s greatest impact may be in the classroom. Partnering with schools and nonprofits across Ventura County, VMF has introduced thousands of students to music, often for the very first time. Children who might never have set foot in a concert hall have instead heard live performances, held instruments in their hands, and discovered the joy of creating sound. These programs plant seeds of curiosity and creativity that enrich our whole community.
Now celebrating its 30th “Pearl Season,” VMF closes the year October 16–19 with performances that capture what the festival does best: delivering live music that stirs, surprises, and connects us in the moment.
This milestone season also highlights VMF’s deepening roots: new partnerships, expanded outreach, and initiatives like a Music & Mental Health program with Community Memorial Hospital, bringing the healing power of music into both clinical and community settings.
And to the people of Ventura—thank you. Your votes naming VMF “Best Music Festival” and “Reader-Recommended Charity Events” remind us that this festival belongs to all of us. Your enthusiasm, generosity, and pride are the reason VMF continues to thrive.
As we look ahead, the festival’s future depends on that same community spirit. Every ticket purchased, every donation made, and every hand raised in support ensures that great music, arts education, and cultural innovation continue to flourish right here at home.
Here’s to 30 years of music in Ventura—and to building the next 30 together.
