Avenue Library and Hill Road Library Present Garden to Table Series Taught by Certified Master Gardener, Terry Garman

Spring into Action: Beans & Squash Success. You’ll discover everything from selecting the perfect varieties – including classic green beans, lima beans, red runners, and summer squashes – to mastering essential growing techniques. Learn proper spacing, support methods, watering practices, and natural pest management solutions. We’ll guide you through the entire growing cycle, from seed to harvest, plus share expert tips on storage and quick recipes to make your homegrown vegetables shine at your table.

This informational series is for new and experienced gardeners alike, with the Spring and Summer sessions focusing on specific types of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Join us to learn, meet fellow gardeners in your area, and begin enjoying the benefits of home-grown foods from your own backyard or patio!

Foster Library and the sales shelves in the Hill Road Library. Bookstore hours are Monday through Saturday, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sundays, 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

Maker Lab – 3D Pens Thursday, February 20, 3:30 to 4:00 pm

Young artists and engineers are invited to explore using 3D pens to create 3D designs. Choose from an assortment of simple projects or just get to know the 3D pen by creating your own unique design. Space is limited. Designed for ages 8+.

Discover Science – Heart Lava Lamps Saturday, February 22, 11:00 am to noon

Explore density and chemical reactions in this heart-filled lava lamp project.

Teen Craft Club – Fabric Marbling

Wednesday, February 26, 3:45 to 5:00 pm

We will play with small pieces of fabric to explore the art of fabric marbling. This program is designed for people ages 11-19.

Who Wrote Shakespeare – The Suspects – If you missed this event at Hill Road Library, there is another opportunity at the Ojai Library at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 1

Shakespeare’s plays are known across the globe and have shaped our literary world for centuries. In last year’s lecture series, Dr. Bob Mayberry presented the myths and legends surrounding the authorship of Shakespearean literature. This year, Dr. Mayberry will share new research and findings in a talk focused on his seven most likely candidates for who “really” wrote Shakespeare! Dr. Bob Mayberry is professor emeritus of English at CSU – Channel Islands and has written novels, poetry, and plays.

the Hill Road Library Book Club meets Tuesday, February 25, 4:00 to 5:00 pm. The February Club Selection is Go Tell It on the Mountain by James Baldwin.

The Wise Owls Book Club, a quarterly book club for adults who enjoy reading children’s literature, meets at Hill Road Library on Tuesday, March 11 at 5:00 pm to discuss The Moon Within by Aida Salazar.
