Firewise Living: From Structure to Landscape

Certified Master Gardener Dani Brusius presents a practical workshop to equip homeowners with essential skills to reduce wildfire risks. Participants will learn strategies for creating defensible space around structures, including vegetation management, landscaping techniques, and home modification approaches. The course covers fire-resistant landscaping principles, structural hardening methods, and emergency preparedness to protect homes in wildfire-prone regions.

Check out the Ventura Friends of the Library Bookstore, 2nd Look Books, in E.P. Foster Library and the sales shelves in the Hill Road Library. Bookstore hours are Monday through Saturday, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sundays, 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
STEAM Fun at Avenue Library
Wednesday, March 19, 4:00 to 5:00 pm
Avenue Library’s Teen Volunteer Club presents STEAM activities on the third Wednesday of the month from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. The event is free and open to children, grades K-12.
Teens interested in volunteering at Avenue Library, please email Ina Holladay at ina.holladay@ventura.org. Teen volunteers (ages 13 – 17) help the Homework Center Coordinator by assisting students, K-12, with homework. Teen volunteers also assist in creating STEAM activities for the children of the community.
Maker Lab at Hill Road Library celebrates (almost) Pi Day

There will be a Pi-themed project, a 3D Printer Demo…and pie! (for children, while supplies last) Recommended for ages 6-16.
On Thursday, March 20, at the Maker Lab, build a marble maze using Legos and challenge your friends to solve your maze!
