Ventura Surf Captures Double National Championship

Ventura Surf Soccer Club has officially become the first club in Ventura County history to win two NPL National Championships in the same season – an extraordinary achievement accomplished just four years after the club was founded.

Both championship titles were earned at the NPL National Finals:

  • Girls 2011 (Coach Brian “Ziggy” Ziegenhagen) – National Champions
  • Girls 2013 (Coach Francisco “Sisco” Lopez) – National Champions

For a club that did not exist four years ago, this accomplishment highlights the rapid growth of Ventura Surf and its commitment to a player-first environment built on development, character, and opportunity. The club has quickly become one of California’s premier youth soccer organizations, producing nationally competitive teams while serving families throughout Ventura County.

Our motto, ‘Earned. Not Given,” isn’t just something we say – the standard our players live every day.  This achievement belongs to every player, coach, family, and volunteer who believed in what we were building from day one.

The double championship also shines a spotlight on Ventura County, demonstrating that one of the nation’s elite youth soccer programs has emerged right here in the local community. Four years ago, Ventura Surf was simply a vision. Today, it is home to two NPL National Championship teams. https://venturasurfsoccer.com.

Ninja Academy Coming to Ventura

Madelyn Scarpulla, the owner of Los Angeles Ninja Academy, is set to open Ventura Ninja Academy later this year at 4450 Dupont Court, a location that will bring the beloved sport and unique activities to kids and adults of all ages to the area. Grand opening events and drop-in classes will be announced soon.

“My intention for Los Angeles Ninja Academy two years ago was to grow the sport of ninja and the World Ninja League’s presence on the west coast,” says Scarpulla. “In two years, my team and I have accomplished just that and more. We have built a solid and welcoming community and created such a demand that our ninjas deserve another location to train and compete. We hope to draw even more ninjas from the Southwest and Northwest Regions of the League as well as introduce the sport to new families in Ventura County and surrounding areas.

Los Angeles Ninja Academy in Culver City was the first dedicated ninja warrior obstacle training facility in LA. Scarpulla operates two other successful locations, New York City Ninja Academy and Brooklyn Ninja Academy.

All four Ninja Academies teach ninjas of all levels how to conquer uniquely designed, challenging, and exciting ninja warrior obstacles that mimic those on the popular NBC television show, American Ninja Warrior.

Ninjas learn new skills and techniques for climbing, swinging, agility, balance, strength, and of course the iconic Warped Wall all from the best competing ninja warriors in the world. Obstacles rotate each week, so ninjas are challenged in new ways every time they visit. Participants will eventually tackle obstacles with increasing difficulty and will learn strategies to conquer an entire obstacle course.

Ninja warrior training is a thrilling physical and mental challenge an innovative approach to setting, achieving, and surpassing fitness and mental goals. The academies offer kids programs for ages 6-12 after school and on weekends, training for teens and adults, advanced sessions to prepare athletes interested in competition, as well as private lessons, corporate team building events, and kids birthday parties on weekends. Special guest ninja coaches including American Ninja Warrior veterans make appearances for private advanced training. www.ninjawarrioracademy.com.
