Vol. 10, No. 13 – March 29 – April 11, 2017 – Forever Homes Wanted

Hi: Lena is one of the most beautiful dogs we have met. She is sweet, loving and so happy to just get attention from anyone. She was found as a stray. Can you imagine being lost and blind? We think she is about 6 years old so she has lots of living and loving left. Blind dogs manege surprisingly well. Talk to one of our wonderful medical personnel to find out how. She is about 5 pounds and would love to be your best friend. Ventura County Animal Services – Camarillo location – 600 Aviation Drive. A660614 Lena

Hi: I’m Cricket a sweet Pug who would be great for someone looking for companionship and love. I do okay by myself for a few hours, but I prefer to have someone around. My previous owner said I’m not good with cats.  I’ve participated in playgroups at the kennel and I’m great with other dogs big and small.  I’m good with children, but I’m used to living with an older gentleman. Although volunteers and staff are wonderful at the kennel, it’s not the life for me. I really want to be back in a loving home with my special someone. Vol. 10, No. 11 – March 1 – March 14, 2017 – Forever Homes Wanted

Hi: I’m Mahlaya a very sweet and a little shy 8 year old American Staffordshire Terrier X who is need of a new home. The older female dog in the home started picking on me when I was 7 months old. We were separated and went to training (I’ve successfully completed intermediate and advanced education classes as well as successfully completing the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test) and things were fine again. But then it started again and we have been separated for a while now. Being separated all the time isn’t a great way for me to live. I want to be part of the family and be able to interact all the time.

I’m good with small dogs, I love children, toys and playing fetch and I absolutely love the water! I’ve had formal training and know — sit, stay, lay down, shake, high five, return to side and come. I walk well on a leash and love to go for runs and walks too. I hope you will come meet and see for yourself what a wonderful girl I am. Canine Adoption and Rescue League C.A.R.L. Call 644-7387 for more information.

James was lost and alone. Who knows how long he was on the streets. He got a rough start at the shelter too. He was fearful of everyone and hid as far back in his little kennel as he could. Staff and volunteers kept encouraging him to socialize. Now James wants nothing more than to be held and cuddle. Do you have a lap? Do you like to cuddle? James can be found in kennel #251. Mr. Peanut (A657526) is a darling light tan Chihuahua. He came as a stray on January 11. We can’t imagine what the street must felt like to this little guy, but he is safe now. He is a little shy and needs someone to help him feel safe and loved. Ventura County Animal Services – Simi location – 670 W. Los Angles Ave

Hi: I’m Nala a gorgeous 11 year old Chow / Labrador X. I was rescued from Animal Services as part of C.A.R.L.’s Golden Oldies senior program. Learn more about that at http://carldogs.org/how-to-help/c-a-r-l-s-golden-oldies/! I greet people politely, take treats gently, and I’m not interested in toys. I just want to relax and be by your side. I’d make a great family dog as I’m good with children and other dogs too. Please stop by and meet me.  You’re sure to fall in love and want to take me home. Cookie is our Kitty Cottage greeter. She is a “senior” cat, but you would never know it by stroking her soft fur or watching her spry way of jumping onto your lap. She is also beautiful to look at. Don’t just take our word for it. We are open seven days a week from 11:00 to 6:00. Ventura County Animal Services – Camarillo location – 600 Aviation Drive.  A654909 Cookie

Vol. 10, No. 8 – January 18 – January 31, 2017 – Forever Homes Wanted

Hi: We’re Burt (short for Bertrand) and Bernie (short for Berniece) very sweet Pocket Chow who were found as strays. They think we are brother and sister.

We were found malnourished, filthy and full of fleas. We were scared and clearly had been very neglected. No one ever came to look for us. We were very fortunate when ResQPet Chow Dog Rescue came to adopt us both from the shelter as our time was almost up. ResQPet Chow Dog Rescue has paid for our medical, spay and neuter, grooming and training to get us ready for adoption. To help give us the best chance at finding a loving home together, ResQPet Chow Dog Rescue has partnered with Canine Adoption and Rescue League to spread the word about us.

We are smaller than the average Chow, hence we’re referred to as Pocket Chows, 30 and 25 pounds. We are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together. We’re both active, good with children (13+) and are crate trained. We’re good with other dogs and know some basic commands. We’re thankful to have been rescued, now all we need is a loving family and home to call our own. CARL Adoption Center-call 644-7387 for more information.

Hi: My extremely regal looks are only part of my charm. I am Kai and I am a pretty energetic girl, so if you like having adventures and lots of activities in your life, we will get along pretty doggone well! Besides activity and adventure, I am crazy about toys. I would like to do athletic things with you like playing Frisbee or running. If these qualities are not enough to convince that you need me in your life, let me add that I walk perfectly on a leash and I love to receive love and attention. What more do you need in your doggie companion? Ventura County Animal Services – Simi location – 670 W. Los Angeles Ave

Vol. 10, No. 7 – January 4 – January 17, 2017 – Forever Homes Wanted

Hi: You know how sometimes you just want to stay in bed and hide under the covers all day? That’s me at the shelter. I’m just having a hard time adjusting and I’m really nervous because of my unfamiliar surroundings. Please don’t let that stop you from asking to meet me. My former owner says I’m good with all kinds of people. I just need someone to take a chance on me and show me a great deal of patience so I can come out of my shell and shine! If you’ve ever had those days when you can’t seem to get out of bed then you know just how I feel, so let’s help each other get out there and enjoy all that life has to offer! Hi: I’m Bo an affectionate and playful 5 year old American Staffordshire Terrier / Weimaraner X. I’m in need of a new home because my previous owner does not have time for me. I’m good with children, love attention, house and crate trained and have had formal training and know some basic commands. I walk great with a gentle leader and enjoy going for runs too. I do have allergies and need allergy medication and a hypoallergenic diet. I also need a home with no other dogs or cats. If you have room in your heart and home for a dog like me, please stop by to meet me. Canine Adoption and Rescue League C.A.R.L. CARL Adoption Center-call 644-7387 for more information.

Vol. 10, No. 6 – December 21, 2016 – January 3, 2017 – Forever Homes Wanted

Hi: If I ever got a tattoo, it would read “Will work for treats!” I adore treats and people offering me treats just about sends me over the moon with happiness because I love people as much as treats! I’ve been to doggie playgroups and I do ok in them, but sometimes I get distracted because I am a fun, people loving guy looking for a fun human to pal around with. If you would like to interview for that position, just tell a staff member you want to meet Debo. Ventura County Animal Services – Simi location – 670 W. Los Angeles Ave. Simi Valley – Debo A480906

Vol. 10, No. 5 – December 7 – December 20, 2016 – Forever Homes Wanted

scamp-to-adopt-carlHi:  I’m Shadow a 7 month old very outgoing Shepherd X who is good with other dogs. I don’t know why, but I’m the last of 19 puppies available for adoption who were taken in with our moms when a family became overwhelmed when their 3 unaltered female dogs became pregnant around the same time.

I’m handsome, athletic and outgoing, how come I don’t have a family and home to call my own yet I’ll never understand?   I might make a good surfing buddy as I got to try out surfing at the Thousand Oaks Rotary Festival and I had a lot of fun!

I’m in a foster home with lots of different animals. They take me on hikes and other outings which I thoroughly enjoy. Canine Adoption and Rescue League C.A.R.L. Adoption Center-call 644-7387 for more information.

scamp-to-adopt-vcasGreetings, I am Sansa and I’m looking for a special someone to rule my kingdom with. I was raised as a royal lady, and I like the finer things in life such as music, poetry and, well, cat treats. I may seem a little shy when you first meet me, but please don’t let that stop you from courting me. I promise I am full of love and playfulness–it just takes me a few minutes to approve of your presence. Bring me home today so we can take over the world together! scamp-to-adopt-vcasHi: Just so you know, I didn’t pose for this picture. Really. I am this naturally beautiful 24/7. I am a healthy sized 3.5 year old girl but don’t let my size fool you. I am very calm and polite. I like toys ok, but I think they are much more fun if you are holding the other end of them! You will get my instant and complete attention if you give me deluxe treats while teaching me new commands. Just ask the staff at the adoption center to bring me out so you can meet me and see for yourself what a sweet girl I am. Ventura County Animal Services – Simi location – 670 W. Los Angeles Ave

scamp-to-adopt-carlHi: I’m Jazzy a very sweet 6 month old Shepherd X. I’m mostly black with a few white markings on my chest and toes. Looking for a WiFi booster?! C.A.R.L.’s Kennel Manager Alison thinks with my ears I’m sure to pick up some signals.

I was in a foster home with two other dogs – a Labrador and a Pomeranian. I loved to wrestle and snuggle with them. I’m crate trained, but not quite house trained. My foster mom created a Facebook page for me that has lots of photos and videos so you can see what I had been doing with my foster family. www.facebook.com/adoptJazzy

Hi: I’m Misty and they say I am a staff and volunteer favorite and one of the shelter’s best ambassadors. Why? I think it might be because I have so many talents. I know my commands, I walk well on a leash and I am very polite when I am taken out to lunch. I visit patients at our local medical facility and charm them with my gentle way and lots of kisses.  I have very good house manners too and enjoy lying by your feet just being close.  I have been waiting so patiently for my new forever family. Wouldn’t you love to have a loyal kissy girl to hang out with? Ventura County Animal Services – Camarillo location – 600 Aviation Drive-Misty A591719
