Monday 11/11

6:46am, observed National Weather Service issued a Gale warning for northwest winds gusting to 35kts later today. Officers raised warning pennants.

11:00am, training with the new Harborwatch vessel acquired from State Parks lifeguards. Officers were practicing backing down in to the surfline and deploying rescue swimmers from the vessel near the Ventura Pier.

Tuesday 11/12

1:15pm, while on patrol in the Fireboat, observed two kayakers paddling in the Pierpont Basin without lifejackets, issued warning and loaned PFD’s to the pair.

3:30pm, received report of a lost dog from a Derecktor marina tenant. Officers responded in the truck to assist searching for the K-9, that was eventually found.

Wednes 11/13

12:35pm, received report of a lost standup paddle board. Officers were able to connect the inquirer with an individual who found a few paddle boards after the last santa anta wind event had blown a few off docks in the keys.

7:12pm, contacting skipper and crew of a 37ft sailboat at the longdock attempting to get an overnight slip. Officers gave permission to secure to the Port District emergency dock for the evening due to some mechanical issues.

Thursday 11/14

5:30am, observed NWS issued a Small Craft Advisory, raised warning pennant.

5:59am, dispatched to a vehicle fire in the water treatment plant. Officers responded with Ventura FD and assisted with extinguishing the fire.

7:20am, officers checking in on transient boaters at the longdock. They are preparing to leave after some repairs, heading to CI harbor.

10:07am, dispatched to a medical at Ventura West marina. Officers responded with Ventura fire and AMR to assist with treatment.

Friday 11/15

5:20am, observed NWS issued a Gale warning for northwest winds gusting to 35kts later today. Officers raised warning pennants.

10:00am, received report of 40ft sailboat losing control while attempting to leave slip and colliding with moored vessels nearby. The vessel was beset by 30kts sustained west wind. The vessel was towed back to their slip, no damage.

3:15pm, dispatched to Ocean Rescue, kite surfer in distress, last seen near Faria. Officers responded in the Fireboat to assist with the search. Due to hazardous conditions, breaking waves in the channel from Gale force winds, the search was suspended. Fortunately, the victim made it to shore near Marina Park uninjured.

Saturday 11/16

5:15am, again NWS issued Small Craft Advisory, warning pennant still up.

9:30am, observed commercial traps in the navigable channel near the #2 buoy. Officers moved them back with the others, towing with the Fireboat.

10:30am, VC sheriffs aboard their patrol boat, securing to the longdock.

Sunday 11/17

5:17am, Small Craft Advisory still in effect, pennant still raised.

10:30am, received report of a vessel taking on water in VIM/SafeHarbor. Officers responded in RescueBoat 19 with TowBoat US to the call. The vessel was successfully dewatered, owner and marina advised of the situation.

6:00pm, while on patrol in Harborwatch rescue boat, observed a small vessel operating without navigation lights in the main channel, skipper turned on lights.
